After almost a year on the look for a new Alfa to replace my trusted 147, I settled on a Monte Carlo Blue Brera JTDm. I had been looking at GT's as well, but couldn't justify paying a premium an what's essentialy a better 147.
My Brera is a June 2006 Manufacture car but registered on April 2007 (first sold by Mangoletsi). I am the 5th owner, but I guess it's a given for Breras.
Got it for a bit under 6K last month after looking everywhere for a car that ticked all my boxes. I was told it was a 210, but alas it's a 200 BHp (as propably the seller was ignorant and the car has a tune box so it's supposedly more).
I know all the model details and variations so that's OK as I ordered the car through the phone and had it shipped to Cyprus. I had no means to personally inspect the car and time and money were tight. Played a big gamble but I think it turned out OK.
The car is mostly in a very good condition, it has the TI 19" wheels (albeit with 4 different tire brands and 2 different sizes, none of which it the recomended 235/40/ZR19 96Y).
Having driven it a bit I found the handling is a bit all over the place (propably the crappy tires). Suspension arms and bushes are looking good so that's my only explanation so far.
Some minor niggles I am facing are the panoramic roof slider, as it's working, but it doesn't close all the way. It comes to close and the bounces back to the previous stop. As if it senses something in the way and opens. I checked the sill but it's clean. Is there something else to the mechanism?
Another is that those plastic carpet studs that you can pin the mats on are missing. Can I unscrew them from another vehicle and use them?
The drivers door window opens but needs a couple of tries to come up again (buzzing but not moving). Possibly the mechanism needs some grease or something?
The driver's seat is a bit wobbly an squiky. If I tilt it back (the bottom part, not the back side) is rocking a bit. Anybody else have this? Could it be that the rails need some screwing back?
Also as I mentioned the car has a program box connected. I am attaching a photo, because it has no markings whatsoever. Has anybody seen anything like this on a Brera and knows what exactly it does? The boost meter shows 1.4 bar under acceleration and it's bonkers fast !!! (At least it looks that way for me).
The gear linkage seems a bit notchy (again could be subjective), I had my mechanic replace the gearbox oil and use the 2.4 liter suggested by members of this forum, but it didn't help much. Is this also OK?
Anybody here that used to own this car? Registration ML07 OKW
