Still looking at 159s now and then since my fleet of 1X
5's is getting on a bit...
2.0ltr JTDs look a little dear still (for me) but the 2.4 diesels and the 1.9s (do I want a 1.9?) might be right up my street.
On the other hand, the TBi is a bit saucy and burns the proper fuel...
So... what's the best 159 option for me?
I do a 100 miles gallop down the motorway twice a week and then commute 28 miles a day (14 each way) during the weekdays.
Average speed during the week is "country lanes" (so <30 mph on the trip computer) but not worried for diesel... the motorway tramps should sort out DPF/EGR etc.
Apart from that week-day crawling about, I want an Intercontinental Ballistic Muscle.. something that can waft along effortlessly at around 80mph say.. like my old 155 v6.... but hopefully with miles better per gallons.
At what speed do 1.9/2.5/1.8Tbi most naturally cruise at?
What mpgs will they do at that speed?
Are any of them (engines) woefully worse than any other? I know the 19 has a weaker gearbox and needs a water pump regularly.. but I don't mind "maintenance", as long as the beast is going to be reliable..
