My take on this and referring to the earlier post about the news from France about diesels is that slowly diesel will become less popular, less popular to manufactures, that is because sure as hell governments across europe will all start to tax diesel heavier once one starts.
If hybrid technology can be used in F1 cars, then it can happen on the road too, just need something less boring than a Toymota. But whos to say, maybe one of the German manufacturers might be working on some innovative system right now to improve the environmental nature of the diesel.
However, for whatever the claimed reason, as some others have already pointed out DPF removal is anti social and irresponsible. As time goes by I suspect the law will get tougher on car owners who have had their DPF removed.
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
