1750 TBI Ti

Which mpg can I expect from a 159 SW TI 1750 doing around 50-55 mph on larger roads without many start/stops? - drives around 21 miles two times each day.

Probably somewhere between 30 and 34 mpg, I do a 110 mile commute twice a week (A3/M25/A1(M)) and have never seen better than 36mpg. I'm guessing the weight of the car and big frontal aspect are the real killers rather than the engine being inefficient.

You are at the optimum speed so should see nearer 34 but certainly don't expect much more, it really drops off as you approach the speed limit. They certainly aren't cheap to run but still glad personally I didn't go diesel.

To get power you need fuel, for its size it's a very powerful engine. So yes, it is thirsty.

Mine did 0.81 Liters /100km between Stockholm and Kiruna.

dreadful on short runs

we use ours as a school bus, does about 2 miles each way from cold in stop/start and on steep hills a couple of times a day. so about as bad as it can get.

can get down to about 17mpg for a tank doing that. but it does take about a month to get through a tank like that.

on a longer trip say crusing at 80 or so then 30 is about the normal.

i'd expect similar or a little bit better than that for a 50/55 run long enough to warm it up properly.

but keep your foot in with 3rd on a long hill and you can get a number starting with 4.... i make it about 50p each you do that.

If you drive it like a DERV, changing up quickly and staying in 5th/6th
and not going over 65mph you should be able to get into the mid 30s

But the moment you try any kind of normal driving or get stuck in traffic
or take it up to +70mph this drops to mid twenties.

Doing 40 miles a day to/from work I used to fill up twice a month.
(I never drove it like a DERV, I drove it properly. )
