New ALFA 159 owner wth DPF, climate control and other questions
Hi, I just bought an alfa romeo 159 last week. It was a bit of an impulse buy and hadn't done much research into them before purchase. Because of my work I am never sure where I am going to be, sometimes I will be doing all town driving and at other times it will be mostly motorway driving, and because of this my mileage is all over the place, some years I might do less than 10k, but some years I have done 30K+.
The alfa romeo I purchased is the 1.9 JTDm 16v. And have a few questions.
1. I am thinking of getting the DPF deleted, egr blocked and remapped. Will this cause problems for the clutch and gearbox later on?
2. Has anyone done a remap without deleting the DPF? Is it worth doing just an egr block and remap?
3. The last owner cleaned out the egr and dpf. As the DPF was giving a warning light. How long will this last? Do DPF's have a fixed lifespan even if they are cleaned?
4. The last owner also rebuilt also got the gearbox rebuilt in a garage in Enfield with stronger bearings etc. Is this gearbox now better than the original one?
I am also a little baffled by the climate control in the car. Sometimes when I turn on the car the climate compressor and air circulation buttons are on. What does the compressor actually do? Is there any good instructions for the system out there?
Lastly there is a noise, sort of like a whine, whenever I turn off the car. It stops after about 10 seconds. Is this normal?
