2.2 Brera Problems
Hi, Having had a 156 and then a 159, both diesels, I went for a 2.2 petrol Brera for a change. 2006 car with full main dealer service history and 47k on the clock seemed a nice car to me but now looks like I've bought a bad un this time.
I've had the car a month and have play in the steering and error codes.
The play in the steering has got worse over the month, the car has previously had a steering rack end bearing replaced, don't know if that relevant or not. I have no steering fluid leaks, just play in the steering wheel and the steering is a bit vague when driving. I've been advised by my local dealer to replace the rack (£1100!!). I've read I might get away with changing a track rod end? Alternatively anywhere recommended that I might get a better quote for a new or replacement rack?
Second problem, read a lot about here is engine light on. I need to check the error code again but they were P something and related to variator errors, dealer says new timing chain for £850. I guess I need to check the solenoids first but my question is; I saw Autolusso advising a £550 replacement, is that going to replace everything (chain, cogs, tensioners) that need replacing?
Any help would be most welcome as after buying the car a £2000 repair bill is just not affordable at the moment.
