Thumbs Up Thinking of buying a 159

Hi all not been on this site for a while as I sold my 156jtd 18 month ago and bought of all things a citroen c4
I've never lost the Alfa bug and I think I'm going to replace my car after Christmas and would really like a 159 diesel ti and Ive got a budget of around 5500 pounds and most of the cars in my price range seem high mileage so just wondering if that would be an issue and what I should look out for.I went through the usual problems with my 156 wishbones ,turbo pipes and dmf and clutch.

Having just bought a 115K 1.9 TI I can say prepare to spend some money
Depending on how the car has been driven , the DPF will need 'sorting' , I'd blank off the EGR, get it Terra-cleaned, clean out the inlet manifold, clean the throttlebody and MAF and replace the MAP sensor. A re-map will transform the performance.
But that's not the main issue! The suspension is. And 100K+ miles and the front suspension will be pretty much toast. Front upper and lower wishbones rubbers, drop links and anti-roll bar bushes...

Spend 5500 and budget another 1000 to replace a lot of stuff.
Would it be better to do all this work rather than buy a 6500 TI? Definitely. As a 6.5K TI will probably be selling itself on mileage rather than age...and you're guaranteed a better ride with the new suspension components, that's for sure.

But that's just My Opinion and I want everything just right
