First proper look underneath Brera - not good!

My new Brera is pretty much immaculate up top. I was therefore a little surprised to find the following when I got it up on the jack for the first time at the weekend:
  • only a couple of the screws to hold thd underbelly plastic trim are present, the rest is being held on by zip ties
  • the air filter box is broken in several places meaning it is loose and probably allowing air in where it shouldnt
  • the chassis is quite heavily corroded, especially on the flats near where the suspension arms join

I was probably most surprised about the corrosion but glad I am now aware of it so I can grind it back to good metal, treat it and then give it a good coat of protection.

I think I ought to replace the air box but not sure how easy they are to get hold of 2nd hand??

Anyone know where to get underbelly screws from too!!

Oh well, wasn't expecting this to be a project car but it seems to be headed that way!

Brera 2.2 JTS

Usual places to find those sort of things I would imagine is a breakers. If you look on e-bay there are plenty available that are being broken. Hope you get it sorted

The underbelly bolts I replaced with an assortment from my garage - esay to get box of mixed sizes from Halfords.
The corrosion should be dealt with - many rate Bilt Hamber Hydrate80
The air box is your top priority - you run the risk of water ingress unless it is sealed. You could use bathroom sealant as a temporary measure

Brera 3.2 OEM+

Have a read of my thread on my Brera, I tackled sorting the rust on the underneath. An easy job but takes time.
