159 Lower Wishbone Setting (Caster Setting)
I'm fitting Powerflex bushes to the lower front wishbones on my 159 and am trying to decide on the initial setting position for the rear bush.
(I'm also replacing the steering rack and de-rusting the subframe at the same time - copious quantities of brave pills required).
If you look at the attached picture - the rear bush can be positioned sideways by moving it along its slotted holes (it moves along the blue arrow).
At the extremes of the adjustment the longitudinal position of the lower ball joint can vary by about 12mm (dimension A in the picture). This dimension must have an effect on the Caster angle.
My question is where in the range of positions for the rear bush should they be set. i.e. should I go for maximum Caster angle, with the bush furthest outboard and dimension A at maximum or minimum caster angle with the bush furthest inboard with dimension A at minimum - or somewhere towards the middle.
Of course I'll be getting the alignment checked and adjusted by someone with the correct equipment but I want to get to a good starting point.
I expect I'll have some trouble persuading the 'expert' to try to get the Caster correct.
