Recovering lost parts in engine bay..

Attempted to remove and clean the egr valve on my 2.4 jtdm SW today having read detailed threads and watched videos.. however, being a diy newbie I managed to drop a 10mm socket and a fastener on one of the heat guards into the engine bay...

This morning everything i dropped fell all the way through but not this afternoon with fading light conditions...

Any tips on how to retrieve or will they be lost on the way to work tomorrow?

P.s. I failed to remove the final long thread screw as didn't have the right long socket/spanner which then resulted in trying to put it all back together which took a lot longer.. hey ho.. at least I know what to expect next time but I found it awkward and fiddly.. anyone else tried and failed the 1st time or am I just lousy at this...I think perhaps tackling from the left side may have helped...

I also wish i'd followed this thread with clear pics..
