Replacing a 159 tail light

One of the bootlid tail lights on my 159 has fogged up with condensation, so I'm assuming it's knackered and moisture has got in somewhere (though I can't actually see where, admittedly). The car is being MOTd next week and is still under warranty from the Alfa specialist I bought it from in July, but in the event that tail lights aren't covered by the warranty - which I will, of course, argue strongly for - I've noticed I can get a replacement online for around 40 which won't break the bank. Question is are they easy enough to fit?

Thanks for any help.

I think the condensation is quite common and may be design flaw. I have a right hand used tail light whith complete bulb assembly I no don't need. It's just missing the rubber trim which sits flush with the boot recess..

Rear lamp condensation is subject to cracks caused by overtight mounting nuts.
May be repaired with glue.

It's not difficult but a bit of a faff because one of the nuts is a bit hard to get at. I've just got basic tools but did it when cleaning the reversing sensors a while back.

To get the light unit off you have to remove a plastic trim nut in the boot to allow you to pull the flexible trim out of the way. Then it's just 3 x 8mm(from memory) nuts. The one nearest the wing was quite awkward but I did it though it might be a lot easier with a better angled spanner. The studs were too long for a small socket.

Undo those, gently push out the unit, unclip the wiring connector by gently squeezing the lever on the side of the plug. Refit is the usual reverse order.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

2008-15 New 159Ti experience: overwhelmingly positive. Reliable and fun over nearly 100k.

I would start to remove inner rear boot plastic cover ( 2x torox bolts, 3x cross screw, 2x clips ).
Replace rubber boot sealant up.
This makes possible to unfold inner boot side trim open to play this 3 lamp nuts easily.
