I can't park to save my life, the streets here are virgin-tight and the Brera has poor rear visibility. Talk about an unholy trinity.
I'm going to be needing a rear camera with nightvision, regardless of the parking sensors. I might as well get a front one too, even though the Brera I want has front sensors ostensibly. Does anybody know of a camera that will replace one of the number plate lights? If the Brera and 159 share number plate lights then it's technically doable; I've seen 159s with cameras from GM cars fitted on the forum. Alternatively there's this:
shop around, can pick them up for as little as £10 delivered from china
havent seen any with nightvision though, although from videos ive seen, the reverse lights + the number plate lights give enough light from the camera to be useful
Thanks Is it possible to retrofit the front parking sensors on a car without them? I know the display between the dials gives you a visual aid as well as the acoustic one, but that's only if one has both front and rears I believe. The fronts aren't visible I don't think, even when fitted; are they magnetic rather thsn ultrasonic?
Frankly, my last car had 'beep' sensors, the current one has colour cameras and guidance .....and it's ****! It can't see the corners and is total pish.
I've had a close look at a few pictures and I've seen the 159 front sensors now at least. Close together either side of the grille to clear the numberplate and right close to the edge of the bumper.
I presume this car doesn't have them? They aren't visible even though the description mentions them.
Now that I think of it, I've never actually seen a Brera with fronts...
Edit: if that's the case, something like this probably does the trick, so long as it can be hooked to the button in the headliner that turns the rears on. I presume I'd then have to hit said button before engaging reverse otherwise the rears would activate with reverse then I'd be deactivating them with the button. How easy is it to get something like this around the inside of the front bumper do you guys think? The seller mentions the "strap" can be split in two to clear the grille...
It would be great not to have to remove the bumper.
If you don't mind me asking how much is the camera that you're looking to install and what type i.e. is it one that replaces one of the numberplate lights or something different?
Prior to this, i bought the Euro number plate holder with integrated camera - but its way too bulky and wouldnt sit well with the lights. I also bought a small XTRONS that would mount somewhere next to the numberplate lights, but again dont think thats a go-er. Bullet cam it is!

Pics tomorow guys
I would be interested in this but do you know if it would hook up to the factory standard fit sav nav?
The installer came today and ive had to change my options. The bullet camera is too big for the bumper, and we're not sure about the fitment (i.e. whats behind it)... Is it some sort of foam or is it a metal piece that would require a hole drilling in?
The other camera i've got, is too big to fit next to numberplate lights as i've the Euro style numberplate lights with pressed plates, so its a very tight fit
I've bought (from Amazon) the numberplate light housing with camera, as described above. Looks the same, same dimensions etc, for vauxhall, so should fit ok. Have decided to remove my metal plates/numberplate housing and just stick to normal OEM style for now.
So the installer checked everything, and wiring is fine... but has had to order a small box for the power, a relay maybe(?) so when the reverse power signal is sent, it doesnt' mess up the electrics as the camera will be powered by that!
After all that, the camera will be installed on Thursday!
Which one did you order in the end? I'm still looking for one that fits into the number plate light and I'm a little unsure as to which will fit and won't cost a fortune!
I have pressed plates, and the euro holder with the Alfa logo. Sadly, ive decided to take them off and go back to standard plates, as the camera ive decided to go with is an OEM fit directly into the numberplate light housing, and the euro holder for the plate doesnt give enough space for the camera.
Matty74 that's the exact same camera I've bought! I worried it wouldn't fit but now I'm glad it does.
Just have to get the car now then (don't ask lol)
I wonder if it can be hooked up to the original satnav? I wouldn't mind getting sargent's Seicane unit as it's touch screen which let's face it is way more driver friendly, and plays the otherwise useless DVDs which keep coming with every BD purchase I make (why do they do that seriously?), as well as being more modern software wise, and looking like an Alfa design.
More expense... hmm. Does the Seicane unit work with the steering wheel controls? Can it be hooked up to the car's 10 disc changer?
To be honest with you I don't really need one I just want one  if I thought logically about most of my purchases I wouldn't end up getting them.... the Brera included!
All instaled. But the TUNER on my headunit has decided to die. Hoping to send it back to China and get it sorted asap :-(
