Range indication is based on driving and fuel remaining if it works out you have less than 50 miles left it will put the warning up. The light comes on when the fuel gauge hits <8L I think.
The idle on mine can be a bit surgey, search on here there are lots of suggestions on things to try
As others have said, the "limited cruising range" message comes on before the fuel warning light - get some juice in it and it will disappear.
Mine had a slightly lumpy idle which was caused by a seized EGR valve. Have a search on the forum but it dead easy to remove (takes about 10 minutes, if that). I took it apart and used (alot) of deep penetrating release oil to free it back up, but by this point the manifold was chock full of soot. Cleaning the EGR (and MAF sensor) did help, but in the end I got an EGR delete, DPF "treatment" and remap and it made the world of difference.
One thing I would definitely try is to stick two full tanks of the Nitro V+ diesel through it. It was recommended to me by an alfa specialist and it got rid of the idling issue after a couple of days. The car pulls alot smoother (especially with the remap). So much so that I only run it on Nitro V+ now. I had to make an emergency top up on tesco fuel and it started running a little rough right away.
I know doubters will assume its a placebo effect, but I can honestly say that even on a cold morning start, I now get no hesitation, flutter or any lumpy idling.
Thanks for the positive comments. I am so pleased with how it looks and it drives great
However one really annoying feature is the alarm. It seem to set it self shortly after turning the engine off.
This has been frustrating when baby is asleep in car and we have stopped for a short while and just want to have the engine off but without the alarm. I've been through the menu and cant see anyway of turning this off or changing the settings.
We hadn't started it since buying it and I've just found something is squealing (belt or even a pulley). Ive just taken it for a blast and it now seems to have gone.
Are you saying your car arms the alarm itself when you stop driving?
If so, at what point in the "stop driving process" does it arm?
1) Coming to a stop, gear in neutral, handbrake on
2) Pressing the engine stop button (but key still in ignition)
3) Removing key from ignition (but you're still in the car)
4) Opening the drivers door
5) Closing drivers door
6) Locking the car
The alarm shouldn't arm until you reach "stage 6". Any sooner and you have an issue.
I've just started it, moved a little.
Pressed stop.
Removed the key.
Got out.
around 2 minutes passed and I heard it beep.
I've just opened the drivers door and bloody thing went off
I've got the manual open now lol.
I do have the button in the light cluster, which i understand turns off the sensors in the car.
But its the car arming itself once the engine is turned off which is annoying.
I need to book this in for a service to get it checked over properly.
looking at the manual it appears the alarm can be deactivated so i might do that temporally.
ah OK so you get out and close the door behind you, and then after 2 minutes the alarm arms. Do the doors lock aswell, or is it alarm only?
I'm guessing its just the alarm only, which sounds like a fault. To be honest I'm not sure how my car reacts, as I've no kids I lock the car within 10 seconds of getting out, but I'll check what mine does when I get home on Wednesday.
If the doors lock aswell, this sounds like a safety feature - as in the car thinks you have forgotten to lock it, and is arming its-self to protect. I know that if you unlock it, but don't open any doors for 2 minutes then it will re-lock itself / arm the alarm, so it could be connected to this.
I'll check it out on my car on Wednesday for you and let you know. I'm sure someone else will be able to do it sooner though.
Unfortunately that only works with the car locked.
As as example this evening we got fish and chips (I know its Monday, but what the hell).
I parked, turned the engine off.
Removed the key (but did NOT lock).
Left the family in the car and went to get the dinner.
Few minutes later the alarm going off!
Turned it off using the fob and left the passenger door open a bit and it didnt go off again.
Great idea and gave me hope, but it's still bloody doing it.
Booked into Avanti Autos next week so hopefully a plug in might help.
Also saw a thread about setting the country code by pressing a sequence of buttons, to get rid of the annoying beeps when arming / un arming. Maybe this might help, so I'll give a go tomorrow.
Less than a week old with us and it's already getting the death stare lol
Sadly not, I sold it cheap.
I read a lot about the 2.4 and it doesn't suit my wife's needs (short and frequent journeys).
I'm not going to admit to what I bought her, but its temporary until money gets better, by then I'm hoping the 1750TBi would have depreciated to affordable levels for me.
