159 2.4 Oil suggestions

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been discussed before. Just wanted to know what oil people have been using for the 2.4. I understand that it needs to be B3/B4 grade but have seen others say that as it has DPF it also needs to comply to C2/C3

Manual suggests selenia WR SAE 5w-40 which is is ACEA B3/B4 FIAT 9.55535-N2 - from what I've seen this is pricey and is nothing special for the price tag!

I've looked at the following:

Castrol edge FST Turbo diesel 5w-40 ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4, C3 - Meets Fiat 9.55535-S2
Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Engine Oil 5W-40) - 5 litres - ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4
Castrol Magnatec 5W-40 C3 Fully - 4 Litres - ACEA A3/B3, ACEA A3/B4, ACEA C3
Gulf Formula ULE 5w-40 fully synthetic - ACEA A3/B4, ACEA C3
Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 fully synthetic - ACEA A3 / B4 & FIAT 9.55535-N2
Motul Specific LL-04 BMW fully synthetic 5W-40 - ACEA A3 / B4 / C3 - API SL / CF
Gulf Formula ULE 5w-40 fully synthetic - ACEA A3/B4 and ACEA C3

Any help or suggestions appreciated

I recommend you to use Mobil 1 0w40 New Life. It's a high tech oil which is ideal for multijet engines. My engine is very happy with it.

And if you have a Costco pass it is about 30 for 5 litres

Mine likes it too!

make sure its low ash if you still have dpf in place or it will clog and give you no end of problems. Shell Helix Ultra is low ash and comes recommended
