Brakes 159 - To change myself or not?

Hi all,

I'm thinking about changing the front brakes on my 159, firstly are they easy to change? Recently they have been squealing a lot (even though the guys at the MOT centre said they were fine).

I've seen this guide but it's not very extensive on how to do it.

I changed the brakes on my Seat Leon last year, and that was a pain. Ended up taking it to a garage to do the drivers side as a bolt was seised on .

Any suggestions?

Also, I've not got Brembo brakes (I've got the Lusso), any suggestions for good brakes discs and pads that don't cost the earth? I used some from Euro Car Parts on the Leon, they were cheap and cheerful (the car didn't really like braking hard, everything shuddered), but as I knew I was selling I didn't want to spend a fortune.

Go for it, if it's's jammed, but will save you much , as you've done it already, you should have most of the kit too.

I did the discs and pads on my GT, was very easy, got a 159 now with the Brembo calipers, different to the GT but again looks straight forward!! I find that discs/pads are easier to do than the old style drum brakes.

good luck with the change, once you've done it your'll wonder why you ever used a garage to do them! I did.
