EGR Issues but not when in Manual - Has this happened to you?
Hi Forum Members....
It's been a while but my egr symptoms had been stable and relatively mild until...
I put some Wynn's diesel egr3 through on Sunday where I believe the Air Intake is just by the MAF sensor. Unfortunately the check engine light came on and after 4 or so starts since hasn't cleared. Will wait a few more start ups to see if it goes out by itself as reported in other threads. No problems with start up at all.
Last week cleaned the MAP sensor by the egr itself which was covered in soot.
The Wynn's worked well when I did it last nearly a year ago but the usual issues came back eventually:
- engine revving either at start up or when at lights
- struggled pulling uphill stuttering between 1500 and 2000 rpm and a few times slowed right down which I assume is like a 'limp mode'. It does this on the flat when on the motorway too.
However, what I've noticed is that if the car is in manual as I have a 2.4jtdm with semi-automatic gearbox, the problems don't seem to occur at all as I keep the revs above 2000rpm.
Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have an explanation they could share? I'm having it serviced by an Independent here in Prague and it would be great to give him some pointers. He does have the diagnostic toolkit which will surely show up any codes. I could also take both terminals off the battery to see if this removes the check engine warning light too before the scheduled service next week.
My car isn't blanked or had the dpf removed.. just in the original condition...
Love my Alfa and would considering blanking or bypassing egr with a software update and drilling through the dpf but from what i've read that doesn't necessarily guarantee trouble free motoring.
