JTS oil temperature sensor, can sensor output be simulated
I know this is common fault and not essential to be working but annoys the hell out of me, flashing in corner of my eye. Thought I would buy new sensor and connect up but not bother fitting into sump (as it needs removing) and leave it tywrapped up under belly pan. At least gauge would stop flashing and temp would read ambient air temp. Looked at Alfa workshop site and sensor £210, can that be right? If so that's that idea out!
Next thought was can you cheat the system and unplug loom from sensor and simulate the voltage outputs from sensor, maybe fitting resistors across appropriate pins on the plug. Anyone have access to wiring diagram of sensor and car? Could probably work out what voltage gauge in car requires to display ballpark temp if info available. Also looking at finding a small clock to fit over oil temp gauge to hide it as another option to stop the annoyance. Any other input welcomed
