I have the 3.2 and we went to London in May as we crawled through the Blackwall Tunnel you could just see the fuel gauge dropping
I had a 2.2SV in 2006 for a couple of years and have had this for 18 months...a Brera will get you noticed over a now so common photocopy BMW (OK, unless the i8), so much rarer and everyone will look at a Brera, even you
as you walk away after parking it. They are a joy to own, it's the theatrical experience of the whole package, look great both inside and out, comfortable and cruise along or boot it when you want.
The differences between the two petrols is probably obvious, the noise of the 3.2 is the most intoxicating (even trundling in London tunnels
) and that not much will pull away from you if you're in the mood, but there is a premium in cost with the 3.2 - I get 20mpg av. and the road tax is £500 or thereabouts (2.2 £270 ?). Non S 3.2 Brera gets variable 4 wheel drive and the traction is fantastic - only me and the proper 4x4's out and about when we had all the snow in Jan 13, without snow tyres
. Mine is also an auto with the paddle shifters, so you might consider that rather than messing with the gears in traffic, though I don't think they did an auto 2.2.
You could also consider a Spider as an option for those nice-summer-stuck-in-traffic commutes !?
Decisions, decisions !
Whatever you choose, get a full service history good one so you can just enjoy the pleasure of owning it and telling all those BMW owners that 'of course I don't have any trouble with it, why, do you with yours ?'
