Have you realy got what you want Hunter? I have been watching the thread and from the outset you wanted to reject the car and kept making referances to buying a BMW or AUDI.
I don't understand why have you not taken a refund and brought an Audi or BMW you are refering to as a company car. Then use your other alfa's for fun at the weekends.
I had a 156 2.4 20V that I had ECU remap. The car went like a rocket. The fuel consumption was up as well. But their was a down side, due to my driving style and the increase in BHP the car went through 4 sets of driveshafts in one year! This was not the dealers or for that matter Alfa Romeo's fault. It was mine for changing the manufacturers spec. Could the ecu remap on your 159 of caused the brake failure? Are you going to remap the new one cos I thinks it may cause some problems that you will blame on either a dealer or Alfa Romeo.
I guess none of us will ever know the impartial view point of the faults and experiences you have had with the car. I can not find a response from Alfa Romeo on the forum anywhere. I was hoping you as you threatened on many occasions, you took Alfa Romeo to court. So I, along with others would able to see when it was resolved the view point of a court so I could read about the situation from an impartial veiw point
Give Alfa Romeo a break. They are working very hard to improve the brand standards in the UK. I personally think they have made massive improvements over the last two years.
Just for the record, because I am sure you will imply, I don't work for Alfa Romeo.
A refund was asked for and not given. It wasn't an option.
No I'm not 100% happy.
Yes I perhaps think I should have bought the A4 2.0T I test drove.
No the remap (2 weeks only!!!) has nowt to do with shoddy garages, master cylinder, servo failures, lousy clutch assembly repairs, lack of loan car, lack of action, etc etc.
In MY PERSONAL experience, the ARUK experience has been poor and no improvment.
FYI - Our AR history as follows:-
156 jtd SW
156 FL 20v jtd
166 3.0 V6
159 2.4 jtd
and replacement 159 2.4 jtd.
Not to mention the number of Fiats that have been purchased.
So I would say that I'm very well placed to say how things have/have not improved for the last 15 years. I can ONLY speak of our experience.
We have supported and backed AR for MANY years and I had no previous axe to grind or reason to give a biased point of view as you imply
In fact there are details that I have not included here that I'm sure ARUK would not like me to say.
Perhaps one day, if you come to an AO meet I can bring some info for you to read and photos to see.
I would hope that the AOers I have met and spoken to many times will vouch for my integrity and honesty if you feel so unconvinced
My personal feelings aside towards the service and garages, this thread has been IMHO a factual statement of events. Rather interesting that you chose this thread as your first post
I would also like to state that I am NOT the only one going through this EXACT procedure, with similar problems of communication and poor responses. The fact is that I have made my experience known to fellow AOers, where others may have chosen to go down the legal route directly.
Other than the above, I'm not going to be drawn on anything else fella
