So I've had the car that was bought from a "specialist" 18 months/20000 miles ago, cambelt was meant to have been changed along with the water pump when i bought it. yet i have a beautiful 159 with a fecked engine.
so i obviously need to get it sorted, .
when looking at the belt it seem oily, but the car hasn't lost any oil and was serviced last month so any leaks should have really been spotted then. so i cant see a reason why it would have shredded its belt after only 20k unless something wasn't done properly.
now the question is do i get the garage i bought it from to look at it (don't really have much faith in them) or take it to a independent that i do trust and then try to recover costs after?
I haven't spoken to the garage i bought it from because i needed to cool off and i don't want to have a go if it wasn't their fault.
can anyone think of a reason why the belt would be oily and would this cause a failure so premature?
something that might be worth mentioning is that when i first bought it i had to get a squealing alternator belt changed when they claimed to have done it but the independent i took it to said that it hadn't. but i did recover costs at the time for this.
Thanks for any responses in advance
