Few problems I need resolving
Dear fellow Alfa owners,
I bought used ALFA 159sw 1,9JTDm 110kw 2007 couple of months ago and I have couple of problems I would like to solve. I will try to explain as much as I can, because I don't know all the correct words. I hope you will understand me.
I deleted the DPF in car computer and I made an exhaust muffler (free flow) out of it. Do I also need to block EGR or it isn't necessary? I see that everyone else is blocking EGR also when removing DPF, why?
After DPF removal, when the car is cold, I have a lot of smoke coming out. When the engine is heated to working temperature, no more smoke is coming out even when I press the accelerator pedal down hard.
When I start the car for the first time in a day, it is idling bad. It seems like it misses sometimes. When the motor heats up a little it is working okay. Are the injectors problem?
My mileage is also bad, I can't do better than 31MPG even when I try to preserve fuel. Car computer says TRIP A average is 39MPG but when I measure it is about 31. Stock tires should be 225/50 R17 but on car is 235/45 R17. Could the tires influence consumption that much or is it something else? Is this OK mileage for a 1,9JTDm or not?
Steering rack is overtightened (someone played with it apparently before me). The steering wheel is not turning back to straight when I move it a little bit on either side. Also I have a problem going straight on the road, the car won't go straight - I am always turning wheel to correct a little on one side than to another side, all the time. Is this the Alfa's manufacturing problem and what should I do, what is the best solution?
I have a couple more problems, but I will ask some other time.
Again, sorry for my English and I hope everyone will understand.
