159 similar to vauxhall insignia

ive just done a service on my friends 2009 1.9 insignia and was surprised to find they share a very similar layout underneath. oil filter was the same and in the same stupid place, more importantly his subframe didnt look too healthy either at the front. his tracking was also out and had destroyed the front tyres.

GM uses the Fiat developed 1.9 engine that the Alfa has, so no surprises in the engine dept. one thing to consider when looking at spares! EG the alfa price for the EGR is a couple of hundred quid, but if looking for the Vauxhall part, can be had for 75! But beware, not all parts are interchangeable!

As do the 8v diesels along with Fiat's 1.3 JTD Mjet.

Also in all Saab 9-3's and 9-5's.

Several members of my family have Alfas and Vauxhalls, 5 x 1.9 engines, all similar, with similar issues.

Easy peasy to work on, done the same work on all cars,,,, egr, maf, tamp etc, etc.

Spider 2.4 jtdm

the V6 is also a GM unit with a bit of bling on it.

GM = Opel Saab, Vauxhall, Chevrolet, Buick, Holden etc.. etc.. so always worth shopping around for parts

The Insignia would be a 2.0, they have never put the 1.9 in the Insignia. Although they are similar under the bonnet, I used to have one. The 159 is a much better drive though.

The 159/Brera/Spider uses GM/Fiat Premium, Insignia only had it in the concept version.

The launched Insignia uses GM Epsilon II platform.
