Part of me wishes I'd have gone for a V6, I was really shocked how gunked up a lot of my engine components were and it's something I'll prob need to keep on top of. Our 2.4 is mainly used by my Wife for taking the Kids to local clubs and trips into town, not even 1.5 miles, (I keep telling her to bike it)it's rarely on good motorway run, maybe once every 10 days. It's had stuff stripped out, bypassed, blanked off and an oil catch can fitted, so hopefully it'll stay a bit cleaner.
I didn't get a V6 because of tax really, I already have a V6Gt that is top tax band. What I did want coming from a 1.8 TS 156 was vast amounts of power, the V6 being out, it had to be the 2.4 remapped.
So yes it's a bit nose heavy around town, it's not great on fuel around town, prob not so different to a V6, but I did about 500 miles of motorway at the weekend and it averaged 46mpg. I think in current day terms, not what it costs long term between petrol and diesel, so that 500 miles would've cost me double in fuel this weekend being in a V6. I've never driven a 1.9 or 2.0 or a 1750, but this 2.4 is so awesome and if you're prepared to do a bit of tinkering, you'll be well happy. I'd still have a V6 if I could afford to run it though. In fact buy a V6, it'll sound lovely burbling around town.
