£17 I'm pleased.
£17, thats how much more it costs me each week on fuel (petrol) in the 2.2JTS Brera compared to the cost of running my previous 1.9Jtdm 159. This is just about how much I had worked it out to be before I made the decision last year. Since then, in 9 months I have covered just over 10K miles, that calculates to be around 14K miles a year.
After 22 years driving a diesel it was a real novelty going back to petrol and once I got used to more regular visits to Mr Esso it has turned out to be a good move.
I do miss the mid range grunt you get from a Diesel and still cant quite get the hang of looking for a power band at higher revs, rather trying to get the car to pull at about 2000 rpm.
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
Driving Brera S 2.2, wife drives 939 Spider 2.2 and there is a 1972 Spider 2000 S2 in the garage for fun days.
