As the title suggests I have experienced an issue with my Brera 2.4JTD on a couple of occasions whereby I'm driving along fine and suddenly the accelerator stops responding and the revs drop to idle.
I was in traffic the other day on the duel carriageway and the traffic moved forwards and I pressed the accelerator and... Nothing
The only way I can describe it is like the feeling you have when you floor the accelerator and experience massive turbo lag (not specific to this car as the lag is usually minimal). Except I waited a few seconds with my foot flat to the floor, then tapping the accelerator, then leaving it, then flooring it... And still nothing. I was about to put the hazards on and suddenly it sprung into life again and started responding! I didn't want to risk the revs dropping again on the way home so sadly I had to rev it like a rude boy in traffic
It was fine for a few days and I'd practically forgotten about it and then I was driving down a road in a residential area with speed bumps, so averaging maybe 15-20mph, and again the throttle stopped responding. Sadly this time it lasted the best part of 20 minutes until it sprung into life. Unfortunately I was also blocking an entrance to a parade of shops so I had to try and ease the car forward with it ticking over. It stalled a few times and stalled again a couple of times after I restarted it but after I cleared the entrance I just sat there in the middle of the road with the engine ticking over and the accelerator peddle having no effect on the revs.
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before on the Brera JTD, what the problem is, what the fix is and, inevitably, what the cost will be?
