Would you drive to Cornwall...

...from Surrey if you'd just got the "Have Engine Checked" warning? Warning came after being stuck on the M25 crawling in very hot temperatures for 40 minutes or so. Also have the old fashioned yellow engine light on. Have given the car a few hours to cool off and rethink, but it hasn't changed its mind!

Taking the family to Cornwall on Thursday...and suddenly a bit nervous!

You can try clearing the light yourself. I am told that starting and stopping 5 or 6 times can do it or take both leads off the battery and leave them resting on the bodywork for 30 mins or so.

If the light is still on after that then it needs reading with a gizmo.

If you aren't going until Thursday then get a diagnostic check done before hand??

Warning lights on modern cars can be something or nothing. It could be argued that the light has come on for a reason and a problem is looming....equally the tolerances of modern engines and their software are so tight that it may be a red herring.

Reading the dtc's will be the only way to answer your question. Check your codes and post up for analysis
