Another squeak thread

My wife's 159 1.9 JTDM SW has a suspension squeak. Nothing unusual, my 147 had a similar problem. I have read the other threads on squeaks and cannot find a solution.

In the last year, the car has had a steering rack, upper wishbones, water pump (etc.) and the squeak is the final straw driving her to madness.

The squeak appears to be on modest engine load, say going up an incline accelerating 30-40 in 4th gear.

As I said, upper wishbones done and mechanic said he noticed nothing else worn. So I was wondering whether the CV joint could squeak?

Any tips on where else to look for a squeak and restore marital harmony?

It could well be the lower ball joints as they dry out resulting in squeak. Either replace the bottom wishbones or lube them like I did. No more squeaks.

My way of finding squeaks and groans on my car is as follows.

Rear squeaks:

Open the boot/tailgate and get wife to sit on sill. Get under the car and get her to bounce up and down, you should be able to locate the general area. If it's in the area of several bushes squirt some silicone spray on one bush at a time and repeat the bouncing.

Front squeaks:

Lift the bonnet and get her to sit in the front panel and do the same.

Bear in mind it could be a broken spring, loose brake pads amongst other things.

I found a faulty/dry bush by this method and spray it every so often with silicone spray, ok so far. Will get around to sorting it this summer.
