As 99% of you spider owners are aware when operating the roof, the hard surround of the window catches on the silver roll bar cover, causing dramatic noises, pulling the roll bar off and temporary hood failure. No one seems to have a fix for this, so a little project was to develop an insert to eliminate the gap between the black roll bar and the silver cover, which would allow the window to pass over freely, I know people have used other methods, I previously used black electrical tape to do this however the gap was still present and the window still snagged.
Well I modeled an insert up based on a spare cover I had and got some 3D printed, the parts arrived today and they work a treat
. The insert is the same profile as the roll bar so fits in snug, I super glued it into position.
The roof still rubs the roll bars however as there is no gap to get caught on, it just glides over much quieter and more efficient then before with no noises or stoppages.
See photos for clarity. If anyones interested in these, send me a pm and Il get some printed.
