Late reply I know, but has any one tried this on a GT? Also does it just stop the locking/unlocking beeps or the actual alarm sound too?

Mine had lost its marbles ages ago after a battery failure, it'd only flash if you opened the boot, used this method to set it to Belgium and now it's working nicely ... so many thanks to the originator

another happy 159 owner, plus my children don't wake at 0700hrs when I leave for the office (sometimes!)
Anybody got any news on doing the same for a Giulietta?

At first I was too slow with the key out-in-out sequence and didn't get the beeps which show it has gone into program mode. When I did it quickly it worked ok. You do not push the stop/start button.

Did this on my car, worked fine but I miss the reassuring beep. When I walk away from the car now I have to double check I have locked it.

I may restore the beep.

No, not just you.
My TT came with them turned off and I turned them on.

It isn't like it is the racket made by a nasty '80's after-market alarm... those were horrible!

I like them too, plus all the high-end Italian cars have the same sounding beeps. How many 8C & Ferrari owner's have turned their beeps off do you reckon?

I reckon most leave them on so everyone can hear & see them climbing in their Italian dream cars.

Not sure if the alarm is from JR? They have the same sounding beeps & in the 1990's they was very hard to get around to steal cars. Very good alarms

Bye, bye Brera

It took me a while to get used to not having the beeps. But, the lights still flash, the mirrors still fold and you can still hear the doors lock.

Without resorting to pulling on the door handle, I'm guessing it's locked!

Fair point, you're probably right.
For me, most of the time it'd be okay, it's just on those occasional times when I get back or leave at silly-o'clock they do sound incredibly loud, especially in my very quiet cul-de-sac in the suburbs.

I always do that as well...

I wouldn't be able to cope with a car that unlocked itself as soon as you touched the handle...!!

Ha! You'd have to grab a passing kid and have him try your door for you.

If you grabbed a Kid on the street & said try my door handle for me.
You'd probably have the cops knocking down your door along with a load of mums armed with rolling pins, in this day & age

Mito

Grunt, moan, grunt, moan

Oh dear, the alarm on my Mito is still stuffed up with old jodhpurs to silence it. I regularly return home late and the neighbours were quite annoyed by the bleep when the car was new. It is far too loud. It remains impossible to turn it off on the Mito, apparently.

Nope, I quite like it too as it reassures me that I have locked the car, I think it's a subconscious thing that I know if I've heard the beep that the car is definitely locked even though I can check to see if the mirrors have folded

I find the noise of the motors moving the mirrors give plenty of reassurance to me .

It is not impossible to turn the beeps off on the Mito Chrisikins!
It can be done by the dealor changing the country code for the alarm to Netherlands!
Cost me 20 extra when I had my service done at the same time on my Mito.

You can do it yourself with MultiEcuScan but you still need the Alarm code from Alfa which will cost you so you may as well get them to do it!

P.s you will need to show them your V5C document if you do want this code!

Mito

And it still doesn't work on the Mito and the garage were not able to do anything, so the only solution remains to stuff some thick cloth round the alarm. I would far prefer not to do that, but I have don and it is my only choice.

While I'm here, why, oh why is the Alfa the ONLY car I know that stops showing Distance to Empty below 40 miles to go, when the fuel warning light comes on? THAT is the time when you need it!!!
