Locking wheel nuts - how important are they?
Apologies in advance if this all sounds naive, but I'm new to all of this...
I've just bought a Brera, and one of the details I didn't check was the locking wheel nuts. It turned out the little orange box next to the spare was completely empty. I panicked - what happens if I get a flat?
However, the standard spanner-head appears to fit all the nuts on all the wheels, so I suppose the issue is that my alloys aren't secure, rather than that I'm missing the locking nuts. Is that right? And if it is, is it a big risk to leave it while I go away for a few weeks without locking nuts? The location's pretty safe.
(I just looked at an Alfa 159 parked nearby, quite new and well-maintained, and that too seemed to have only normal nuts on the alloys.)
