Rust on fog reflectors

My 159 has developed what appears to be rust at the bottom of the fog light reflectors. I know how to get to the globe, but how can I get to the reflector to clean it up and how can I prevent this from occurring again? Any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated. tt

The rusty look is orangey plastic behind the reflector, which is coming away. I took mine apart, sprayed the reflectors silver and sealed them up again. Fitted some LED bulbs and they look fine.

They're useless as fog lights anyway and this was a hell of a lot cheaper to do
