Brera 06 boot release

Came here to try to figure out how the hell the boot of our Breras work. I used to have a Fiat Grande Punto with like the Brera, the boot can be opened only with the car key or from the inside with a buton.

With the Punto I had no problem at all. Open the boot pressing one of this two buttons. Easy. BUT, with the Brera im getting mad every time i try to open the boot.

I have the option for the indep.boot OFF. So If I came from the street with the car closed, and I press the Open button in the car key, it does nothing.

So I open the car, enter, close the doors, press the close button twice and them open the boot from the arm chest.

I can't understand how it works. Can I open the boot from the keys? How?

Thanks for any help and sorry my english.

i need to be quite close to the car to open the boot from the key, and i find double pressing the boot open on the key opens the boot every time.
its hit and miss with the button inside for me though, cant work out when its going to work.
but i know it wont work from the inside if the car has been running, turn off engine but leave key in ignition, then press button. nothing happens...

The change to the menu indep.boot option only takes effect after you lock/unlock the car with the remote.

From memory the key remote should always work.
Could be a faulty switch in the boot lock is causing the malfunction.
