Rocker/cam cover completely stuck 159 Ti 2.4 JTDM
Hi everyone, my first post on here.
Attempting to change the head gasket on my 159, all going to plan until attempting to remove the rocker/cam cover. All the bolts are out (definitely all of them! Checked over and over), injectors out, pipes and wires disconnected etc, but it just wont budge! Managed to leaver up the thermostat side a few mm, but the belt side has zero movement. Spent hours on it spread over a couple of days so far, tried a load of whacks with a large rubber mallet, nothing, tried tapping it with a club hammer using a bit of wood to cushion it, nothing, tried cutting round the edge with a Stanley knife, levering up with a flat head, even got a long crow bar in on the thermostat side and tried levering it off - nothing!!! The belt side has no gap at all and wont budge. And with no gap, I cant get anything in there.
Probably going to have to give up on keeping the rocker cover now, and will replace it. The cylinder head is fine, but the cover is showing some uneven edges. Wont know for certain until I get it off though. Probably will use some sealant either side of the gasket when fitting a new rocker cover and gasket just to be sure.
So my questions, to anyone that is willing to help. Any other ideas on how I can get this cover off? Barring cutting it off.
And also what type of sealant to use when fitting a new rocker cover. Would a regular rtv sealant be suitable?
Many thanks, any replies much appreciated.
