159 - Ongoing issues - Please help!
Hope you can help diagnose some issues I have with my 2008 Alfa 159 1.9 jtdm. Its done nearly 98,000 miles. Had a full service at 92,000 with cam belt replacement.
I might as well list them out as they are piling up a bit!
1. The clutch pedal doesnt return fully most of the time. The last inch is a struggle and usually taps the bottom of my foot once I release it.
2. The turbo makes a sort of .....clatter.... on lift off. Almost sounding like its got a quiet aftermarket dump valve! It also whistles pretty well. It does both of these things ALL the time.
3. The engine light comes on usually during hard acceleration or driving up steepish roads. Just prior to this is slight loss of power. Oddly after the engine light comes on, the power returns. The light then goes out after 5-10 times of restarting the car (or a day or two). I had the MAP senor replaced recently, this was meant to be the fix but hasnt worked.
4. The engine hesitates/bucks/jumps between the rev range of 1750-3000 at any time hot or cold.
This is the first Alfa I have ever owned and have to say is turning out to be a very rounded experience...but if anyone wants to hear it, more reliable than the 2006 E90 BMW I had that was built late on a Friday night.
I've lived with these issues for about six months now. Getting hacked off with 3 & 4 and really want to get rid. Point 2 worries me. Does it mean the turbo is going to fail spectacularly?
I need to bring the car up to the quality level it deserves. Hope you can all give an input. Anything will be educational for me as really not very familiar with this car under the bonnet.
