Insufficient Oil Pressure Stop Engine Warning!
My car has 183k km on it and its a 159 sedan 3.2 JTS Q4.
I was not able to find a thread that had the information regarding the "insufficient oil pressure stop the engine warning", if threre is such a thread please advise.
This warning came up with a warning beep/chime while I was driving. Everything about the car sounded fine. The engine was warm and I was in city traffic. Nothing out of the ordinary just 50mph speeds and traffic lights. The car at the time had 173k km on it.
I pulled over and kiiled the enginde. Restarted the car and the warning and the beeping sound didn't go away, hoping that it wasn't as serious as the car information screen tells me I drove to the nearest dealer with the warning and the beeping sound on. The dealer said it was probably related to the dashboard and that the oil pressure was fine - they also added that they were no longer the official service dealer for the Alfa Romeo and that I needed to go somewhere else. They told me this after they performed an oil change and charged me for it. I replied that I won't drive away with these warning messages in the dashboard and the beeping sound.
I figured if the pressure was OK then the oil pressure sensor must be gone. I asked the dealer to disconnect the oil pressure sensor, which they did.
Since then I get a the same warning information at start up. But it no longer keeps flashing on the info screen and no beeping warning noise. There is a little oil filler image that appears on the left bottom corner once in a while (same place the low windshield washer sign appears). That didn't bother me much and I have been driving for about 10k km since then with no issues.
I plan to change the oil pressure sensor and connect it back up again.
I wonder if anybody else had similiar issues with this vehicle.
Any feed back would be appriciated.
