The 1.9 sounds awful, the 2.4, warmed and under load sounds fantastic for a diesel.
The extra weight doesn't trouble the chassis, the only reason to go for the 1.9 is if you cant afford the fuel and VED.
Bear in mind that at some point the 1.9 gearbox will fail, which is virtually unheard of on the 2.4
What I would say though, is that the 210 feels like it has a 50% power hike on the 1.9, whereas the 200.....just doesn't, feels like about 170 under your foot.
I bought the 1.9 in 2006 as I didnt feel the 200 2.4 was worth the money, but got a 210 on order in 2007 immediately after driving the revised version.
The 210 has a different fuel rail set up as well as the turbo.
If you buy a 5 pot, make sure you change the plastic coolant bleed screw in the pipe to the front of the cylinder head if its not done already pennies to do, save potentially thousands if it lets go on the motorway.
Both all 3 suffer the same problem with water pumps.
