Hi Todt, i have this with mine occasionally, & I've found the most effective thing to do is remove the negative battery terminal overnight or an hour or so, then reconnect it.
I don't know if it's related, but i triggered the failure on mine by adding a 4 hour long mp3...i believe that when you disconnect the battery and allow the unit to properly power down, when it reboots whatever corrupt cache file is causing the b&m unit to fail, is gone.
Also, it can be a bit funny with certain types of USB stick. Try a different make and see what happens.
