Yes, that looks like the right plate for the ConnectNav's aperture size. Well done for chasing that down!
I had an AVIC 900 BT unit fitted to my car by the dealer from new (at that time the ConnectNav was not an option for the Ti as a limited edition). It was a good unit and had its many fans, although not perfect - e.g. I found instructions were also slow, and it died on me 18 months ago. But technology will have moved on. Although to me aesthetically it always looked after market in the car.
In terms of functionality, you essentially lose the bridge between your car's body computer and the unit, so you don't get the integration of e.g. trip information, mileage display etc. Nor do you have the ability to set time and date on the unit through the steering controls (although these of course still work for the digital display in the binnacle). So I doubt Multiecusan will be of assistance. However, the steering wheel control adapter for the Pioneer unit will give you some functionality through the steering controls e.g. ability to skip tracks, radio stations, adjust volume control etc. But not for the telephone (which is integrated into the unit and works off the touch screen).
I would say that what the AVIC unit loses in terms of steering wheel control functionality, it makes up for with its touch screen which is far less fiddly. You may find you get used to not having full steering wheel functionality very quickly.
