Dealer tells me "it's an Alfa thing"
So 6 week ago I bought an 09 plate 159 42k miles from a large Scottish dealer.
A day after picking it up I noticed a few things including worn upper wishbone bushes (MOT fail?) but the main thing was a rotational grinding sound coming from the drivers side front wheel. It's only apparent at very low speed (the noise still persists in neutral whilst coasting) but disappears once into 3rd gear because of the speed rather than clutch/gearbox. I'm guessing centrifugal force makes the noise stop?
After 2 road tests with two different dealer mechanics they fitted a new bearing which made no difference. So, in it went again today for the 5th time. They had it the full day and at the close of play I received a call telling me they couldn't find anything at fault and that the noise was an "Alfa thing". As far as they're concerned, they've drawn a line under this particular job.
So, I suppose I have 2 questions,
1. Does anyone have a clue what the noise could be?
2. Do I accept this very dodgy "it's an Alfa thing" response?
Any help would be magic!!!
