Car wont start

My wife came out of work last night and started the car as usual. She reversed out and the car cut out and wouldn't restart. It turns over and fires but then dies. We got the AA out, there are no error codes, there is fuel pressure on the rail, camshaft sensor seem to be ok as it is reading revs. Tryed tapping the EGR valve but still the same. Has anybody any ideas please.

the initial fuel lift pump in the tank is broken, we had this on a passat once.
if you take the bottom of the rear seats out and put a volt meter of the connection in the tank you should get a reading of 12 volts when you put the ignition on.

The aa man,s reader is a generic type, try and get it connected to a didicated Alfa one. Multiscan springs to mine ask on here if someone in your area . or an Alfa car specialist. But if the car won.t start and you got plenty of battery power no error codes, I say fuel or compression. More likely fuel issues . no D getting thru

Have you checked the Fuel Cutout switch under the Front Passenger Seat?

Garage
Could be to many reasons, has the DPF regened recently for example? The EGR could be open, or fuel pressure low

Thanks fellers I didn't expect to get so many replies, I appreciate it. On this occasion the gold star goes to giblets46, the EGR was stuck fast. The garage replaced it and did an induction clean as the manifold swirl flaps were coked up aswell. ok thus far

hi I had this after rebuilding my 147 and it was timing, the car has slipped a few teeth and this after lots of swearing screaming and reading forum pages was the diagnosis, reset the timing and it purrs like a kitten now!
