So two issues. Could they be related?
My passenger side wheel arch has cracked in front of the wheel (don't ask how..) and i can see through to where the windscreen washer reservoir is. It had been like this for about 2 months, I was eventually going to get around to replacing it with one off ebay.
Last week one of the screws holding it had popped out and the wheel arch had collapsed down a slight amount and was scraping the wheel on turning. Everything else was a-ok!
Yesterday I noticed the cruise control was shutting off after about 20-30 seconds at motorway speeds. Id set it and it'd disable itself. Get back up to 70mph, set it, and it would disable itself again. This went on for about 10-15 mins before I got a message "cruise control off" and it went off fully. Toggle switch wouldn't enable it again, until I had switched off the engine after which cruise control came back on.
Another little quirk is that the speedo needle no longer moves smoothly under acceleration. Instead it's jumping in 3/4mph increments??? I.e It reads 60mph then 63, then 66, then 70. The actual acceleration is nice and smooth, just the speedo needle seems to be "jittery". I definitely think this is related to the cruise control switching off.
I thought that the wheel arch scraping off the tyre was messing up the cruise control speed reading or whatnot, so popped some screws to hold it in back in place today. While I was there I noticed a white connector that wasn't attached to anything!
Went for a test drive after putting the wheel arch back in place and cruise control is still not working properly and the speedo needle is STILL jittery.
Anyone know whats going on??
