Re: Reliable 159s
After 25.000 km I've had the following problems with my 159 1.9 JTD 8v (Progression +pack):
Driver mirror has badly fitting cover, causing terribly annoying whine above 100 km/h. Have been to my (completely and utterly crap) dealer (whom I didn't choose) 4 times and they didn't do anything about it (but tried to con me into thinking they did). They then promised to get back to me when the replacement mirror was in. That was 4 months ago. Anyway I taped it off (no more noise) and you can't see it because my car is black and so is the tape. Soon I'll be going for my first service to a dealer I've had a good experience with before and I'll let them have a look at it. But all in all a minor fault which could easily be resolved (if it weren't for the fact that the dealer my company orders at is utter crap - and I think I'm entitled to that opinion after 4 visits, a lot of lies and broken promises and no fix).
Other than that the car is not the best starting one I've had. Mind you it always starts, but every once out of 6-7 times it's with a cough and splutter and sometimes a restart because the electronics complain. Seems to be better when it's cold outside though, then it starts like a charm. Anyway it's been like that since the beginning and it's never actually failed to start, so I can live with it. Company car too, so if the starter gives up at some point I don't care.
Other than that it's been absolutely reliable. If the dealer wasn't so bad problem 1 would have been fixed a month after I got it and I probably would have had nr 2 looked at as well. Now I just refuse to ever go back here.
Mind you I've known 3 Alfa dealers and 2 of them (including my current one) are pretty good...
