What to look for/expect under £6k
So I was thinking of the 147, but some research into that highlighted safety rating and some other niggles that mean it's probably not suitable.
Basically upgrading form a 1.2 Micra, want something bigger that will last a few years when kids start to come along.... we're getting married in May. Looking to buy after that.
Safety, 4 doors, luggage space and not too expensive are the main things the other half wants.
Decent power, motorway cruising and overtaking ability, in a car that looks and feels good is what I want.
The 159 1.9JTDm seems to fit pretty well. Price, tax, insurance and manufacturers quoted MPG falls in line with the Suzuki Swift 1.5GLX, which was another option until we confirmed the boot was too small.
There are a couple that I've seen with around 45k, but seem to be lacking detail on service history, and some around 70k with loads of history.
There's on nearby now that has 60k, seems to have been serviced about every 10k, just MOT this month. It's an appointment only pace, and as we're not buying for a while I don't want to waste their time, but it feels like a good buy.
I've read about things like waterpump failure and DMF? Also some other 3 letter things that can go wrong. Assuming a car has a good history, then they should be sorted yeah?
Just looking for a guide of what kind of car I should expect to be a good buy for £5-6000, I see talk on here of high milage fleet cars being a good by, but also the opposite...
