Re: Oilfilter 159 19 JTDM 16v.
Because there is no way I would leave oil in an engine for more than 5000 miles,I have changed the oil and filter twice on my 2.2 JTS.The first time, I bought the whole unit from Alfa -which is the plastic cap with torque setting moulded on(like the peugeot 206) and includes the push-in paper element and the green o-ring gasket for around £15Sadly,you can also buy these from your Vauxhall dealer(for the Vectra/Omega 2.2) .They are Hengst manufactured-GM- either for Alfa or Vauxhall. The second time I bought the items separately from Vauxhall because my Alfa dealer didn't have the parts in stock. The plastic cap is reusable. The Vauxhall paper element(same Part no.)is £3.00+,the Alfa part is £11.00+.However the separate green gasket is £5.00+ at Vauxhall, yet pennies from Alfa.Barmy. I needed to disconnect a couple of pipes to the intake manifold to get access to the filter cap with a torque wrench and the filter housing needed a syringe to draw out residual oil(like the 206 with A/C.)The sump plug on my petrol engine tightens to to 22Nm.I don't work on,or know anything about diesel engines but I have the eLearn 159 manual if you need further help. The undertray will have to come off ,of course,so make a diagram of where the large hexes, star bolts and crossheads go.There are a lot more than on the156 and it's heavy and more substantial!
