Nev, according to VOSA the VDC recall affected 3720 vehicles (147s and GTs) built between February 2003 and November 2005.
Their description of the fault is:
"The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system does not operate properly when the space saver spare wheel is fitted. This could lead to the VDC warning lamp operating and may lead to reduced braking efficiency if the brakes are vigorously applied."
and the remedial action is:
"Recall the vehicles that are likely to be affected to fit a new VDC electronic control unit that has upgraded software installed."
So maybe this is a new one - the VOSA website doesn't list the Brera or 159 in the recalls section, so I can't easily check.
I'm just surprised if there's a common problem affecting the oldest Alfa Romeo in production and the most recent.
