First time poster long time lurker on here
Everything I've wanted to know so far has been on here without having to ask any questions.
I picked up a 1.9jts 159 (my first ever Alfa
) about a month ago so far am delighted with the car. While fairly highly specced (maybe they all are I don't know whats standard or not) it has the bog standard Blaupunkt stereo setup and no bluetooth. My previous car had one of these Kenwood Bluetooth Receiver
which was a joy for streaming music directly off my phone and has a built in mic for calls very handy.
I'm looking at what my options are regarding getting bluetooth streaming and calls into the Alfa.
First off I can use my Kenwood with a single DIN fascia and a steering wheel interface
that should allow me to keep the steering wheel controls.
Has anyone used such an interface? Does it activate the Phone button on the steering wheel? This button is currently redundant..
The second option is to put in a Yatour/Denison/Blaupunkt unit with and hook it up to the OEM head unit. There are versions available with Alfa/Fiat adapters so these should work. I don't mind the text not coming up on the HU display, but I am concerned with audio quality being up to scratch. I'm also concerned that these can be quite fiddly/temperamental.
Does anyone have any experience with using these in a 159?
My third option is for someone here to come up with something better/easier/cheaper than either option I have presented above
