It happened to me but the Child Lock wasn't on.

I had a diificult rear seat passenger and she tried to open the door while travelling. It was just enough to kick off the auto locking and I thought no more of it. But about 2 weeks later the lock failed so I suspect the action burnt out the locking/alarm process.

With mine, I found that the door would open on about the twentieth pull. I think each time it just 'encouraged' it a little until the mechanism could be overcome.

So my advice is to make a coffee and go out to the car and keep trying. Once open, obviously, turn off the child lock.

It happened to me and is quite a common problem with 159s.

The solution was a new rear door handle set up. Benfield Alfa of Newcastle did it for me and although it cost a bit they were great and lent me a car for the day whilst it was being fixed - for free.

I did a thread on it last year.
