Hi everyone this my first post after buying a 159 2.4 jtdm last week, could use some advice!
I dropped the car at auto lusso for a health check as on the way back the car started to show a 'kick down' issue, where boost would surge and then drop again when applying power in fifth and sixth gear. Slowly squeezing the throttle prevented this from happening, so at first I thought this was a slightly slipping clutch affecting load on the engine, and therefore boost, but auto lusso says the clutch is fine. I am used to working on cars myself but this is my first alfa. I am picking the car up on Monday after it has had the powerflex bushes, new oil cooler, and egr deleted. Has anyone anything to add to my list of elimination if the EGR delete hasn't fixed this boost surge issue;
New air filter and fuel filter
Replace boost controller
MAF clean / replace
Check swirl flap leaks with washing up liquid
Check the map (apparently it has had an alfatune map but the Dpf is still in place, and Gus has no record of the car, so I almost doubt it has had this remap, perhaps the map could be dodgy and running into its boost limit in higher gears)
With checking the swirl flaps - is there a way to hold the swirl flaps open permenantly and apply sealant to fix the leak? I appreciate the ultimate solution is the replace the intake manifold with or without the swirl flaps, but I want to try a quick fix first to help with my process of elimination (if it comes to it anyway)
