As a Brera owner I went thru the same dillema. I looked at an old 911, a Boxster, a new TT, a RX8, a Nissan 350 blah blah blah blah.
This family (Brera/Spider) is not all about performance it is about presence and originality. They are gorgeous cars. Stunning.
I have had comments from 2 911 drivers as well as a DB9 driver saying that they were jealous of the looks it gets.
The performance. Trust me, driving a 2.2 is a great experience. OK its not a rocket from 0-60. Who gives a S&*t. I want people to enjoy looking at it as much as I do. HOW MANY SPEEDING POINTS DO YOU WANT?
The handling is superb. I have had no problems apart from a slight "lightness" in the steering. The cornering is amazing and the overall feel of the car is great.
If you need back seats, get a Brera. Ok, its DEFINITELY NOT a family car but I take the kids (3) to school in it everyday.
To sum up. 1st impressions go a long way. Be original, you will love it. REMEMBER, you will be driving an Alfa so perfection must go out of the window (if they open properly - joking!!).
In the words of our beloved Jeremy Clarkson.... "You're not a true petrolhead until you've had an Alfa. Just for the moment when it works............"
GO FOR IT
BTW - Did you really think you would get negative comments here. Its an Alfa Owner forum. I am sure a 911 forum would slag it to bits!!!
