I did the following on my 1.9JTDm after it went into limp mode (3 days before driving to Disneyland Paris)
Unfortunately there's not a great deal to do on it, from memory you can pop the end off it and it has a filter under it. Looking through forums ages ago, it seems that when you drive in bad weather with loads of spray, the filter gets clogged and causes problems.
Once you clear the filter, it's worth checking all the vac lines for splits. It's pretty hard to see the pipes once the disappear down to the actuator. The small pipe to the vac pump is easy enough.
I'll see if I can find the part number of the solenoid.
To verify that the pipes are good the easiest way is to disconnect the pipe off the solenoid which goes down to the turbo. Once disconnected, removed the turbo air outlet and feel around the turbo actuator and you should find the link which goes into the turbo to control the vanes.
Next, suck on the pipe and check to make sure that the actuator pulls the linkage, while sucking, seal the end of the pipe and t should hold the vac.....if it doesn't......you can assume either a split pipe or faulty actuator.
